FC Concordia Basel is a Swiss football club based in Basel. The club was founded in 1907. They play in the 2. Liga Interregional (fifth level), and their home stadium was Rankhof Stadium until the 2008-09 season.
Concordia is ranking as the number 3 club of Switzerland in the all-time table of the 1. Liga. They won the Och Cup (considered as the former Swiss Cup) in 1922. It is the club's only title.
History
In September 2008, Concordia Basel became the first football club in Western Europe to sign North Korean players when they signed North Korea internationals Pak Chol-Ryong and Kim Kuk-Jin.
FC Concordia Basel has been cooperating with FC Basel in the past. FC Concordia Basel has recently won clashes with some major clubs such as FC Basel and Young Boys.
Concordia er et av de eldste fotballlagene i Sveits og har en rik historie. Laget har vunnet flere regionale mesterskap og har også deltatt i europeiske konkurranser. I 1978 nådde Concordia kvartfinalen i UEFA-cupen.
I årene etter tusenårsskiftet har Concordia kjempet for å holde seg i den sveitsiske Challenge League. Laget rykket ned til den tredje ligaen i 2008, men klarte å rykke opp igjen etter bare én sesong. I 2016 rykket Concordia ned igjen til den tredje ligaen, men rykket opp igjen i 2018.
Concordia er kjent for sin lidenskapelige fanskare, som er kjent som "Rotweiss-Armee" (rød-hvitt-hæren). Lagets farger er rødt og hvitt, og klubbens emblem er en rød og hvit løve.
